How to become a Firefighter/Paramedic


San Ramon Valley Fire Minimum Qualifications (at time of employment):

  1. Minimum 18 years of age at time of employment

  2. Must be a citizen of the United States

  3. High School diploma or equivalent

  4. Must possess current EMT-Paramedic licensure (National Registry acceptable) and California EMT-Paramedic licensure to participate in agency specific oral appraisal examination process

  5. Valid California Class "C" license or equivalent upon appointment

  6. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation cards

  7. California State Firefighter-1 or successful graduation from a California "approved" Firefighter-1 academy to participate in agency specific oral appraisal examination process (IFSAC and out of state certificates will not be accepted)
