San Ramon Structure Fire
August 25th, 2008

Type of Fire: Residential fire in garage of single family residence,
with some extension of fire into the house

Date/Time of Fire: August 25 2008/First call- 2:07 p.m.
First engine on scene - 2:12 p.m.

Location of Fire: 9914 Mangos Drive, San Ramon

Apparatus responding: 3 engines, 2 trucks, paramedic unit, breathing support unit, 4 chief officers

Reports of fire- Fire initially reported by neighbors who saw smoke coming from windows and garage.

Damage: $150,000 to structure, $25,000 to contents

Cause of Fire: Initial investigation determined fire was caused by a kinked dryer line clogged with lint that overheated. Investigation of the blaze continues by San Ramon Valley Fire Marshall Rick Terry.

The homeowner was alerted by neighbors of the fire and escaped the blaze unharmed.
One firefighter suffered a minor burn to the hand at the scene, but did not require hospital treatment.

Two unconscious cats in the residence were rescued by firefighters and resuscitated
with oxygen at the scene. The felines were transported with the assistance of
San Ramon Police to Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center,
where they were being treated for smoke inhalation Monday evening.
