San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District
Class 2 ISO Rating

San Ramon Valley Fire District is awarded Class 2 ISO Rating
During the fall of 1998 the San Ramon Valley Fire
Protection District underwent a rating review from the Insurance
Services Office (I.S.O.)
Previously the District was rated as a 3 on a scale of 1-10,
with 1 being the highest rating and 10 being the lowest. The
previous 3 rating was considered to be quite good in the fire
industry. However, after the review the District was re-rated to
a Class 2.
What does this mean? The main benefit to the taxpayer of the
district is that the improved rating will reduce insurance
rates. An example is that commercial buildings within the
District will save between 2.5% to 4.5% in their base insurance
rate. With the massive valuation of the commercial buildings
within the District boundaries this savings will prove to be
substantial.
The I.S.O. rates approximately 44,000 Fire Departments and Fire
Districts (What is the difference between a Department and a
District?), nationwide. Of these Departments and Districts only
5% are rated as a Class 2 and only 28 Fire Departments are rated
as a Class 1, no Fire Districts are rated Class 1.
This rating is a major accomplishment for a District as large
and diverse as the San Ramon Valley Fire District.
Areas around
Morgan Territory area are an ISO of Class 9.
Areas 5 road
miles from
Station 35 Blackhawk Fire Station are an ISO Class 8
